Party Boy and Prancer

Name: Prancer
Sex: Gelding
Appaloosa/Thoroughbred Cross
Age: Yearling
Color: Blue Roan
Rescued from: Nurse Mare Ranch
Party Boy and Prancer are rescued nurse mare foals. The nurse mare industry is the dirty little secret of the thoroughbred breeding industry. When a future race baby foal is born at a thoroughbred breeding farm, its mother is sent away immediately to be re-bred while the foal is raised by a surrogate mother AKA a nurse mare. Nurse mares come from depressing ranches where big draft and quarterhorse mares are put to work having foals that are ripped away from their mothers as soon as they get the necessary colostrum from their milk, which can be within the first day of two of life.
The mother mares are hauled away to the pricey thoroughbred ranches while the poor little nurse mare foals are left behind to either die of be sold to slaughter.
Party Boy and Prancer have always been together since losing their beloved mothers. They will never be separated, and must be adopted out together. Party Boy was born with crooked knees, and almost died as a young foal. Amanda got him kinetic energy therapy and massage therapy for months. The therapy worked, and Party will be pasture sound for life, but would be best suited as a companion horse. Party Boy is a hilarious horse! He has an addictive personality and is the cutest horse ever!
Prancer is very fancy looking and will be an excellent show riding prospect someday for a flashy young rider. This yearling has it all! Prancer is highly intelligent and has learned to perform tricks. He LOVES peppermints and other treats.
Party Boy and Prancer are so bonded -- they are always together! Apply to adopt this entertaining pair today!
